Sorry if I caused any consternation or upset among my friends here.

I'm critiquing his essay strictly on an editorial basis. He is of course welcome to think or feel whatever he likes.

But as a persuasive enterprise, there are lots of weak points and architectural failures. Like the ones I oofed. There's a huge range of possible thinking and action between "I'm done with race" and people who can't seem to "quit race," for example.

It's not a very well made essay fellas. That's why it's in Newsweek.

Maybe? If that's the prevailing view around here (I doubt it), then I'm surprised there's not more applauding of the demise of Gay et al.

It's a non-story that affected almost no one. But the liberal New York Times turned in into month-long BREAKING NEWS coverage at the behest of some disgustingly racist people.

That's why I'm not applauding it.

Disagree, but we can still be bitter enemies who don't hate one another.

    I'm a well-wisher, in that I don't wish you any specific harm.

I mean, the essay wasn't a masterpiece and he could have made his point in a few sentences (no comments at my expense, please). But the thing you're focused on wasn't the point of the essay. He was trying to tell everyone circling the wagons to reflexively defend her because she was "the first black president of Harvard," about the instances of her targeting and attacking other black academics who had come into conflict with her ideology. His opinion was that because of that she waived any benefit of the "first Black" defense.

The sentence that follows is a joke.

Go forth and blacksplain no more.

The preceding sentence was a joke.

Had a job interview a few years back where I got hit with a DEI question and was like “WTF?” I’d never heard the term in that form — we had the acronym switched around — and the interviewers couldn’t believe it. Then I wondered WWDESD?

Thanks for costing me the job, Teresa.
