I love how Tomlin just walked through the tunnel like Denzel in “Flight” as he leaves the hotel room.

My last home football game as a student at Central was on a Friday night at the dawn of MACtion against our biggest rivals, Western. A bunch of guys from my old dorm used to paint their chests in honor of RB Ontario Sneed (who sadly, died young). Anyway, I was going to paint for the game and bought a black bathrobe to cover my shoulders before the game. Then a sideways rain blew in. I never painted, thank God. Western absolutely noped out of the conditions and we routed them. Everyone who survived rushed the field. I had broken my foot waiting to play pickup basketball a couple weeks before so I crutched the field. I still have the bathrobe, but I'm pretty sure the jeans I wore are still damp.

The Met was a pretty crappy place to watch a football game even when the weather was nice. Memorial Stadium had much better sightlines.

He is great at rallying the troops. He is not great at keeping them from falling into these holes with stretches of games just about every season that they look sloppy and unprepared.

My firxt year at the Herald on the Patriots best was 1987. First game was at home against Miami and a tropical depression moved in in the second quarter and bathed the field in a downpour for the remainder. Before that Marino had been shredding our boys, but after that the Pats could run and Miami couldn't. My first assignment, along with game sidebars was "play of the game." I asked the desk to get the weather graphic from 3 p.m. and by God they did it! We ran that as key play of the game. Freaking editor in chief praised us for that idea. Let me add, he was an idiot, but it did allow me to have permission to be weird for the rest of the season.
