Mar-A-Lago is less than 200 miles away and I’d imagine it’s be a short flight by private jet. Maybe someone can convince Trump to go?

What's going to be interesting going forward is how much academic fraud billionaire Bill "TL/DR" Ackman willingly or mistakenly exposes in his crusade for whatever it is he's crusading for. He's already made his own wife look bad. (Was she a DEI hire? Tenure at MIT is not nothing.)

The more cribbing he exposes at MIT, for example, the weaker his argument that Dr. Gay was some sort of elite institution outliar.

Hoist / petard / so forth.

Tacky, rude but funny hot take from a friend regarding Ackerman: "He who smelled it, dealt it."

I suppose one of the upsides of being delusionally enamored of one's own writing is that one never thinks that what some other scholar wrote is "good enough."

    You are framing him incorrectly.

He didn't spend weeks trying to argue that Claudine Gay "was some sort of elite institution outliar." In fact, to the contrary, he very specifically argued over and over again that her, Liz Magill, Sally Kornbluth, et al. were all symptomatic of a problem that was infecting A LOT of institutions.

When he began his crusade, it wasn't about Claudine Gay. It was about the student groups at Harvard that had circulated that letter saying that the Hamas attack was Israel's fault. It became about Claudine Gay because the university then did zero to address the concerns of alumni (many who had donated a lot of money but were otherwise asleep at the switch) who were startled by what they were seeing. In the weeks following, Ackman was dismayed (as were alums at other universities) that the atmosphere at Harvard was hostile toward Jewish students. And he turned it up.

He focused on Claudine Gay because she was responsible for a DEI regime (this has been her number one priority there) that is anything but what people think DEI is based on the actual words in the acronym -- at Harvard (under Claudine Gay) and at other places, DEI had overtly become about giving preference (the exact opposite of inclusion) to certain groups (based on their races, ethnicity, gender identities, etc), based on a warped oppressor / oppressed, privileged / disadvantaged ideology that has run amok. The reason she couldn't just come out and be as staunch about antisemtism on the campus the way she found her voice -- unsolicited -- when George Floyd was killed, was because she had a very specific ideology and agenda that isn't inclusive -- and is retributive in nature.

He wasn't wrong about any of that.

If you want to do a "ha ha" about his wife, knock yourself out. Ackman is Ackman.

But the tact you are on is a sideshow that is not what he was on his high horse about when this all started.

Some things are better off unsaid
Red hat in your hand and it's pointing at your head
We think you're mad, too unstable
Kicking in chairs and knocking down tables
In a dining room in a beach side town
Call the police, there's a mad man around
But the loons stand there spellbound
In a golf club in a beach side town

In a beach side town, a Desantis world
The Putin boys and Palm Beach girls
In a beach side town, a Desantis world
The Putin boys and Palm Beach girls
    Palm Beach girls

You got a jaw of glass or a Roger Stone
MAGA hammer man broke into your home
    They've got no future
    Can't study the past
    Here today, such a blast
In every city, across the nation
From Lake Winnebago to the Sinclair station

In a beach side town, a Desantis world
The Putin boys and Palm Beach girls

It's certainly not where Ackman started.

But it's where he finds himself now.
