I can’t even fathom the meltdown in Austin if Sark leaves and takes Manning with him.

 

Exactly. Saban repeatedly denied he was leaving the Dolphins for Miami until he was suddenly announced as Alabama coach.

Any coach who thinks he's going to live up to the ridiculous standards Saban has set and the Tide fans now expect is delusional. But somebody will be very willing to take this job and probably all the money and prestige that goes with it, loyalty to their current school be damned. These are truly once in a lifetime opportunities for most coaches.

Just stay out of Arety's Angels.

 

Saban was the rare coach who was a great recruiter and who was an even better coach. You would think he could just pick which players he wanted each year - but he was a grinder. Took nothing for granted.

 

How great would it be if Mike Norvell took that job? First the Tide took the Noles' playoff spot. Then they take the coach? Almost too magnificent to comprehend. And it would be so richly deserved.

 

However it shakes out, hope we get a few 3-10 and 4-8 seasons out of Bama for a nice little run of Shit Happens, Y'all.
