Fuuuuu ... Sting missed one of the tables to brace his fall and basically did a coffin drop straight onto the floor from about 8 feet up.

Sting in his retirement match with Darby against the Bucks? I suppose it's a choice, but I figured it would've been Sting vs. Darby in a friendly fire match, even if it would've come with a lot of smoke and mirrors.

They never actually announced who it would be, and they still have six weeks before the PPV. Plenty of time for a quick feud with the Bucks, and then the send-off with Darby.
Sting's last match has to be a singles match, right? Seems like a tag would cheapen it.

One of the pods fantasy booked a heel like Swerve just crushing Sting and sending him out like Angle, but meaner. If its not Darby that’s the way to go …. And the Bucks aren’t the ones who need that heat

Steve Borden will absolutely go out on top.

Does it even need to be booked as anything more than just a match?
It's not like the Flair and HBK retirement matches in WWE, where there was a kayfabe chance that both guys would win and keep going. Sting has said this will be it. Have him give Darby the honor, win or lose, of getting the spotlight and a place in history as Sting's final opponent. Sting wants to go out a winner, Darby wants to win because he wants to win. It's a kayfabe athletic competition and a glorified house show exhibition match, except the two of them put on a banger. It doesn't matter who wins.
After the bell, the guys hug, the locker room comes out to give Sting his deserved accolades, and that's that. Sting's final match ought to sell the PPV by itself. I don't think it necessarily needs the drama or a complex emotional storyline, unless you want to do a student getting his final lesson from the master thing.

I agree but it must be noted that when the owner is going off about real sports feel and records mattering, Sting retiring as undefeated in AEW is a little bit insane

This picture cracks me up on so many levels.
It's like they called Sting, got him to come by the office in the strip mall over on 43rd Street, and shot a really awkward-looking picture holding a $25 plaque like any small-town weekly would. And then Sting, on his end, shows up with his full face paint and gear on because that's how he rolls around town.

The Twitter preview cut off the picture, so here it is in full

This is actually some great stuff. WWE(F) had a wrestling tax man, so a wrestling lawyer might work, too.
