Gonna be a whole bunch of media job losses, particularly on the NFL media side, if Marchand’s reporting proves correct (he’s one of the few reasons to ever look at the Shitty New York Post).

There’s a major ick factor to me on this. But I’m coming to terms with the way things are headed. Been going this way for a while.

    Goodell’s to-do list:
    1. Buy ESPN
    2. Buy the Southeastern Conference
    3. Rot in hell

Hiring Joe Rogan-lite sort of demonstrates the point. As does ESPN BET, and whatever this becomes.

I don't think management ever built a workable plan for the collapse of the basic cable business model.

Iger wants a huge chunk of the sports betting industry and going after ESPN and Penn Gaming is brilliant.

The latter two ideas appear to be revenue ideas. Good ones? Dunno.

McAfee was a content idea. One I don’t really understand.

The question for Iger is whether or not ESPN continues to exist as any kind journo/tainment outlet once the wall (however modest in this case) between news organization and sportsbook tout is breached.

Looks like James Andrew Miller might have known as it was happening. I don't think he's writing for a publication right now, so I'm interested in listening when and if he gets brought on to a podcast. (Simmons would seem like the obvious one, but he already dropped an episode today, so he'd have to do an "emergency" one.)
