The city mag where I live has a dining editor named Twinkle Van Winkle. And it is indeed her given name.

I went to high school with a guy whose full name was Winston Miller Ford. We joked that he must have been born during a Nascar race.

    I offer up these two.

A reserve lineman at Baylor one season was named Hunter Hunter.

when I worked at a mall photo lab a buncha years ago, the yogurt store around the corner that had really good chicken salad sandwiches was managed by a lady named Ginger Snapp. She told me once that if she ever got married, she was keeping her name.

Turns out, Ginger died in 2001.

In high school, my best friend's brother had a buddy named Tab.

His dad was an executive at Coca-Cola.

    I can’t believe I forgot Dick!

    Which reminds me: Woody Johnson.

For some reason this also got me thinking of Vitas Gerulaitis.

I had somebody tell me this story and I immediately called bullshit. But he said the woman who told him was the sister or daughter of the teacher. A close relationship, so it wasn't presented as some silly example of playing Telephone. I guess she just wanted to fuck with him.

The Jell-O twins have been in every high school in America, it seems. I think it's been told so much that some people honestly believe they met them. One of them is my sister-in-law, who is a retired teacher at a tiny high school in the middle of nowhere North Carolina. More than once she's said, "We had these brothers..." I just let her say it and think to myself, "No, you didn't." It's not worth it.
