Well that seems to be out of nowhere. Signed an extension through 2030 for 93 million in August of 2022.

    Holy shit.

I know his age. I know he's wealthy as all get out. But I didn't expect Saban to retire yet.

I know it doesn't matter to someone like him -- but he was eight wins shy of 300 for his career. I'd stick around to get there. He was also a handful of seasons to get into the top five for wins

Seeing the transformation of college football with transfer portal, NIL, conference consolidation, he probably said, "F this shit. I'm out."

It's weird - Saban is probably the greatest football coach of my lifetime, college or pros. Probably most people's lifetimes. And yet, he's not the only "current-ish" coach with titles at more than one school. I mentioned Patterson above - but what about Urban Meyer? Seriously. Hell, Bama fans are probably certain to end up with a coach they grew up hating in any event. Right?

Maybe Ryan Day should enter the transfer portal ...

Wow. A week ago the college football world was pretty calm. Then Alabama, then Washington, now Arizona are in upheaval. And some other place will be when Arizona takes a head coach from some other program.

Hundreds of lives impacted as the dominos continue to fall.

I think The Athletic did a ripple-effect story about a coaching change a few years ago that had something like 320-ish (?) coaches impacted down into NAIA.
