Still not sure what to make of Ray Evernham buying the IROC brand and SRX announcing it's closing shop in 2024 in the same week.

SRX had great crowds, good selection of drivers and a TV deal. Does Evernham just rebrand the whole thing IROC and run it on pavement? No idea.

I like watching old race highlights on YouTube. Everything in every series - to me - was better.
What I won't watch is clips where I know it is a fatal wreck. I guess the older I get, I just don't want to see it. Most of them I've seen a hundred times over, so I don't need to see it again.
Scott Kalitta, Earnhardt, Dan Wheldon, Senna, etc.
I have no desire to see, in more than a few cases, guys I interviewed, ate and drank beer with lose their lives. It's not a Hollywood movie. They don't come back.

I do love me some "And they walked away" clips, though.

It's not for me to criticize, but the PBP guy sounds like he's getting paid by the word. It's television. Take a breath. You don't have to describe everything like you're the PA announcer.

Ryan Pemberton, longtime NASCAR crew chief who most recently was JR Motorsports’ director of competition from 2012 to 2022, died very suddenly Sunday.

Robin's brother. Wow, that's a real shock. RIP. That family's had a couple of tragedies -- Robin's son, Bray, died in 2021 at 35 of complications following COVID.

    And Ryan Pemberton was 54.

    My gosh.

You watch some of those really old ones ... like early 60s Daytona 500s ... and it's a wonder more wrecks -- and I mean, A LOT more -- weren't fatal.

NASCAR announced its headline entertainer for the Clash, and it has not been well received:
    Machine Gun Kelly

Ryan looked like he’d lived a hard 54. Damn.

Randy died a year or two ago, too.

Rolex 24 update. Safety car walls it coming through the bus stop several hours before the green flag. Hopefully everyone's OK.

I guess that's why it's always smart to be safety first.
