He's also the first local owner the paper has had in four decades.

I don't know what he'll do with the content. But I doubt he'll bleed it dry like Alden does everything it touches.

I feel for the journalists at The Sun. I hope it’s better than I expect it to be.

This after Alden. Filthy pig fuckers who should roast in hell for eternity with a white hot spit jammed up their asses.

Just the Sun, or were its other area papers, such as the Capital Gazette involved?

"In a tense, 3 hour meeting, new Baltimore Sun owner David Smith told employees he has only read the paper 4 times in the past few months, insulted the quality of their journalism and encouraged them to emulate a TV station his broadcasting company owns."

    Off to a roaring start.

Trying to save himself the annoyance of layoffs by scaring as many staffers as possible into running for the hills.

It was 2016 when our "pub hub" was eliminated. Within days, I had an interview to join the design staff for Baltimore Sun Media, mainly working on the Annapolis and Carroll County entities. I left Baltimore with directions to wait for job details.

About four days later, the Trib bought the Sun and instituted an immediate hiring freeze. Hello, state government.

He can be just as bad, though. And he smells bad already.

Rosenstiel, who teaches at the University of Maryland, said local ownership is not always good.
“What matters is the values and the intention of the owner, not where they live,” he said.
