My daughter was up sick at 3:30 this morning, so no fun in the snow for her. How did this turn into a 4-day weekend?

Our schools were closed last Friday for teacher in-service, out Monday for MLK Day. We got two inches of snow on Sunday night/Monday morning and temps haven't topped 20 since, so it isn't melting. Classes were cancelled today and they just announced Wednesday is cancelled too. So we are at a six-day weekend here (for the kids, at least).

Thank you, and to all. Surgery went well this morning, she'll come home tomorrow. The next 2-3 months will be a challenge but we'll pull through.

The next round of snowfall has begun here in Central Washington (and as @micropolitan guy has noted, there’s more freezing rain and ice in store for the Columbia River Gorge and Oregon).

After we get our 2-3 days of snow and lovely “wintry mix,” unfortunately this blob of moisture will collide with some other Canadian storm system over the Midwest by Friday, bringing another round of weather misadventure to the eastern part of the country. Sorry about that.

It does always raise my hackles a bit when the crappy weather we get in the Northwest only becomes national news when it crosses the Rockies. But a nice night off from work (PAID) so I think I'll crack open some beers and listen to the ice thaw. Of course, NOW is the most dangerous time - when EVERYBODY feels they can drive in this. I have no doubts that the lack of traffic saved me from some body damage on my car. And we probably have to worry about flooding as well.

UPDATE: Finally over 32 degrees after about 4 days!!

I know that safety comes first when it comes to getting kids to school in icy conditions, but I’m a single parent for a week while Mrs, W is away on business and announcing a delayed opening at 5:20 in the morning is suboptimal.

By the third or fourth snow day when your wife's in education, too, you're ready to go back to school. That is if your wife doesn't have the ability to sit down and be still.
Right now she literally has a sandwich in one hand and is throwing stuff out of cabinets with the other.

And you are on SJ.com, solving the world’s problems with the rest of us!

“Honey, could you stop cleaning out the cabinets for a minute and help figure out which state with more “cools” living in it should host the first presidential primary?”

I never understood fashion shows and the "look aheads" until someone said they are like those experimental cars you see auto companies roll out here and there. You never see anything close to it at the local showroom, but there are elements you end up seeing. Maybe its a color, a pattern or a similar cut, but I'm guessing we'll see something "related" to what went down in Milan next fall on NFL pre-game and mid-week chats shows.

And I've never understood much of the fashion on the shows either.

I haven't clicked on that yet, but if it isn't some combination of hoodies with shorts or jeans then it is wrong.
