This list is quite similar to mine -- my first concert also was Rush, on their Power Windows tour in 1986 (at the Rosemont Horizon near Chicago). They also are the band I've seen the most (seven times), although Wilco (six) comes close.

Most recent concerts: After a three-year break during COVID/post-COVID times, saw Michael Franti and the Australian Pink Floyd experience in August at a winery/concert venue near Seattle. Great venue and good shows.

Worst concert: Haven't seen too many clunkers. But by the time I finally saw REM in 1994, on the Monster tour, Michael Stipe was just going through the motions.

Loudest concert(outdoor): Neil Young with Crazy Horse, mid-1990s, at the World Music Theater near Chicago. Gin Blossoms and Dave Mathews Band opened. Then they turned it up to 11 for NY and the Horse.

Loudest concert (indoor): Built to Spill, early 2010s, Spokane.

Next concert: We'll see who comes through the Northwest in 2024. I know Green Day is playing T-Mobile Park in September, not sure if I'm going to pull the trigger.

Wish I could have seen: Was friends with several people at the University of Iowa college radio station (KRUI, Iowa City ... "radio by the students, for the students!"). Both Uncle Tupelo and Smashing Pumpkins came through and played a local dive bar/music club in the early 1990s, and I was offered a chance to go to both -- and declined. Fail. I eventually saw both bands at larger venues, paying much more and being much farther away from the stage.

One I'm glad I saw: Paul McCartney, about 10 years ago, Missoula, Mont. Still in good form, and it was a total party scene with multiple generations in the crowd.

Another one I'm glad I saw: Prince, November 2000, Grand Rapids, Mich. My wife is a huge fan and we drove through a snowstorm to get there, but it was well worth it. I especially enjoyed the encore, when Prince strapped on his guitar and did several Santana covers.

Anyone ever seen a concert at Ryman Auditorium? I’ve done the tour but never seen a show. Old Crow Medicine Show is there at the end of the month, but $80 for the balcony seems a little too precious.

The balcony is fine. Ideally, you want to avoid being under the balcony. Also note that the seats are church pews, so it might get a little tight.

I hadn't realized how extensive the internet files on concerts are, how easily you can look up a show you saw decades ago and get the date and the set list.

Everyone throws rocks at the Eagles, but I think that in a general sense that was based on their post "The Long Run" arc.

This one is in my top five. At the Omni in Atlanta, 7/3/76.

Opening act was Fleetwood Mac. Fleetwood Mac, Fleetwood Mac tour, the first album with Lindsay and Stevie, list includes one song from Rumors.

Just picked up tickets for Billy Joel/Sting later this year. Excited about that - I'm a huge fan of both of them, seen Billy Joel 4 times prior to this, and this will be my first non-Police Sting live show.

Really looking forward to seeing them perform together - if I had one complaint about Billy Joel live, it's that it seems like every time I've seen him, it's a carbon-copy of the same show, same set list, etc. Would like to see him change things up a little bit, so the show in Memphis doesn't feel like the show in Houston, and the show in Minneapolis, and the show in Denver, and on and on.

I've seen several shows there -- Black Crowes on a two-night set with Frampton, Willie, Robert Earl Keen. I've always enjoyed shows there, and OCMS is probably a hard ticket to get in Nashville, so I'd say that price is probably fair. Not many bad seats on the house, just don't get too far under the balcony.

Illness in the band, per his Insta. Working to reschedule and all tickets will be honored.
