First chortle I’ve had in eight days.

 

Did I miss when they cut loose their previous OC?

 

I'm looking forward to the story, at some point, that details the cascade of coaching changes related to Saban's retirement. I guess adding player changes (transfers) might be impossible to calculate but it, too, would be interesting.

Just with Alabama, Washington, Arizona and SJS you're looking at dozens, starting with Bama's 30ish+ players and coaches departing.

 

This is three days old. I can only hope it has doubled in size since then.

I for one am excited not to have to pay for a hotel stay the night before the Birmingham Bowl.

 

Brian Hartline was the OC past season but Day was the play caller. Hartline will be co-OC this season.

 

With Saban gone, which coach would you go to if you wanted to be "NFL-ready?" The question marks surrounding coaches at the top of the CFB food chain are crazy. USC? Ohio State? Michigan? Alabama? Clemson? Texas? Oklahoma? Florida State? Washington? Hell, I might as well just go to the highest bidder - because there is zero stability at any level of the P5.

Saban is screwing everyone.

 

OK - I understand the portal opens for a month when a coach leaves, but given the head start other teams had - are there that many openings for players? Maybe they reset the portal date to Feb. 1? Figure the coaching moves are done (even those moving to the NFL), players would be allowed to finish their current term if they wish - or leave to participate in spring football. Figure also the late signing day for HS players is around then. And then open it back up after spring ball for players who don't like where they landed on the depth chart for a week or two.
Solves a lot of problems with the bowls, the coaching vacancies etc. Does the NCAA even have any control over college football anymore?
