Conflict has spread across the Middle East since Hamas’s surprise attack on Israel in October and Israel’s fierce counterattack in the Gaza Strip. From Lebanon to Iraq to the Red Sea, the violence is an all but undeclared regional war pitting Iran-backed militant groups against Israel and the U.S. Israel is effectively fighting active battles on three fronts.

Bibi is the one who probably landed on shin most of the time so you can see why he doesn't want to give anything back.

Life in Israel After Oct. 7 in 5 Charts

    1. Israelis No Longer Support a Two-State Solution
One in four Israeli adults currently support the existence of an independent Palestinian state, while most (65%) oppose it. This is almost a complete reversal of where they stood on the issue a decade ago, when twice as many Israeli adults supported an independent Palestinian state (61%) as opposed one (30%).

This change in attitudes mirrors the shift in public opinion in the Palestinian Territories shortly before the war between Israel and Hamas began. Almost one in four Palestinians (24%) surveyed between July and September of this year supported a two-state solution, down from 59% in 2012.

In both cases, it is not clear how opinions have changed annually over the past decade because of the 11-year gap in measurement between 2012 and 2023. As a result, Gallup cannot attribute Israelis’ drop in support for a two-state solution to the recent conflict alone.

Note several things: 1) The arabs in Gaza and the West Bank have NEVER supported a "two state solution," because they won't accept Israel's right to exist. 2) Israelis have been receptive to "peace" and two states, over the last 7 decades, including in 1948 when Israel was founded. ... and the Arabs there refused to accept Israel's right to exist. There have been how many "peace" processes with U.S. leaders involved in which Israel was willing to negotiate and Palestinian leaders jerked them around and ultimately walked away? 3) Now is an absurd time for the U.S. to be grandstanding -- even if Joe Biden has a fractured "base" putting pressure on him. There are *still* Israeli hostages being held in the Gaza Strip. Israelis see this as a fight for their survival. Peace isn't something you just decree, it takes two sides committed to it. For decades, Israel hasn't been the primary hold up to that. In the wake of a terrorism episode like the one that happened in October, it's kind of shitty to be putting the onus on Israel at this point in time.

This is Israel’s 9/11 and I respect however they choose to fight it. But it’s not going to be a simple war on terrorism.

This is more like a WW2 fight until Unconditional Surrender. Or at least a defeat to such an extent that you destroy Hamas’ war making abilities. Eliminate every rocket and launcher. Restrict import of anything else that can weaponize Hamas.

And something has to be done about “aid” that turns into tunnels and weapons.
