If you're curious about DEI in higher education ... and why chasing it away ain't exactly the Klan rally some of you seem to think it is ... here's the actual rubric that the University of California-Santa Cruz is using as the first pass through applicants for an assistant professorship in Chemical Biology:

Notice that falling into this category ...
    • Demonstrates little knowledge of DEI issues
    • Little participation in activities that demonstrate commitment to DEI priorities
    • Minimal description of future interest and plans for promoting DEI at UCSC
... is as bad for one's chances as falling into this category ...
    • Research does not compliment department strength in chemical biology
    • Research does not have potential to attract extramural support and trainees to UCSC
    • Research does not have potential to have impact on field

Indeed, if as a doctoral student you focused strictly on what you were supposed to be focusing on (i.e., preparing yourself properly for your research career) and are legitimately a member of this category ...
    • Research is exceptional compliment to department strength in chemical biology
    • Research has exceptional potential to attract extramural support and trainees to UCSC
    • Potential impact on field of research is exceptional
    ... UCSC (a Tier 1 research school!) isn't interested.

The negative about DeFascist dropping out is that he now can turn his attention to continuing to foul up Florida. Fuck him with a jagged metal scythe.

    That is fascinating.
It's like asking coaching candidates which Morrissey album is their favorite.

    This is the thing.

It doesn't matter who drops out, or when, if it was a given all along that Trump was going to be the nominee.

    Of course they're dropping out.

I can't believe Trump will be the nominee. Check that. I can't believe anybody -- especially the Republican party -- wants him to be the nominee. But that's the case.
