In Maui it wouldn't make a difference.

What is the status of the PGA/LIV merger - is it still a go? I've never been a huge fan of regular tourney golf - outside of a few courses - like Pebble, or Congressional - or other courses I play on WGT....and the majors to some extent - but the players mean nothing to me. One Justin may as well be somebody else's Jordan or Brett.

The most recent official update is that the Tour is negotiating with Strategic Sports Group to invest in the for-profit new side of the business, and that negotiations with LIV are continuing. There's still no guarantee that this will all work out. A common sentiment in golf circles is that the Rahm signing by LIV will be the catalyst to bring the two sides together but I'll believe that when I see it.

I assume Texas and Ohio State will be offering him bags soon.

Nick Saban called in during the broadcast, talked about watching Dunlap on "one of those machines that tells you how your ball's spinning and all that." That's how I will refer to launch monitors from now on.

I covered Nick for one of his wins this summer. He is as real a deal as I've ever seen at this age. He's big, broad-shouldered and can hit all the shots. But he's also a goddam killer. Can grind and grind and intimidate, especially in match play.

That's fantastic!! Does he ignore the 2 yr exemption? The what $2M payday?

As for Burns missing the green on 17, I've got to say at least I safely made the green :)

    Why would he ignore it?
He can't take the money for the tournament he just won. You have to turn pro before the first shot.
He can play in the Tour's signature events such as The Players only if he turns pro. He can play in the Masters off his U.S. Am victory or his victory on Sunday.

My mistake, I thought he had opportunity to decide to take potential earnings and turn pro after tourney.

That was my thought, too. I didn't know when you had to declare.

    Ah. The Farmers.
This really begins the golf season for me.
There are 10 cities on my bucket list. San Diego is one of them.
