That one's a headscratcher. Maybe Blank regrets not making him the coach after his interim stint before hiring Smith?

    First choice was Belichick
    Second choice was Bieniemy
Third choice don’t matter. Those are your fucking options.
    Raheem fucking Morris.
    UnbeFUCKINGlievable.

    That's why they're the Falcons?

I like the Morris hire. The dude was 33 when he got his chance at a head coach gig. He's been a top assistant for a while. He deserves a shot.

I would LOVE for Fields to be even a good NFL quarterback, but he has shown NOTHING in three years to suggest he can be such a thing. He holds onto the ball WAY too long (which he also did in college and tends to correspond with not being very good on the next level) and he was literally the worst quarterback in the league in fourth-quarter completion percentage this season. For all your bitching about how terrible the organization is, did you ever stop to think that keeping a quarterback that hasn't shown much progress and only has 10 wins in three years is EXACTLY what a terrible organization would do? Poles made a shrewd move to get the No. 1 pick. It was arguably the best thing the Bears have done in decades. To not AT LEAST TRY to capitalize on that is the Meatball move.

    I denounce this.

Also, the "dozens of players say he's hard to play against" thing is silly. It's almost as dumb as "DJ Moore loves him!" Of course he does. Few top wide receivers have played with a shittier collection of quarterbacks. In that context, Fields is the tallest midget. D.J. Moore knows as much about what makes a good NFL quarterback as you do.

This Falcons fan was in the anyone but Belichick camp. Hiring him would have been a disaster of Titanic proportions, that would have set back the franchise probably a decade.

Don't know if Morris is the answer, but at least he's not a worn out hoodie.

Is it me, or does anyone else think that Kraft gave a less than sterling review of Bill when the two parted ways? The Morris hire was surprising, considering all the hype around the Belichick interview two weeks ago. If Bill doesn't get a job this year, does it get any better next year?

He could easily be waiting for Philly or Buffalo. He may not be interested in just any job (and Atlanta is pretty much the definition of "just any job").

I don't think we have to get too conspiratorial here. No owner would hire Belichick if he thought his team was more than a season or two from the Super Bowl. Otherwise, you're not hiring a 71-year old coach to begin with. If Blank (doubtless prodded by the overly extensive front office structure he's created) decided that wasn't the Falcons, that let Bill out. Also, it would be one of the most realistic thoughts about his team Blank has ever had.
PS: This is out of left field, but IMO the longer Belichick is out of the NFL, the less likely he is to try to get back in. And of course paradoxically, the more reluctant he is to return, the more owners will try to snag him.

Better choice than Belichick, who might die in the middle of his contract.

    See also previous.

Lots of character questions there. Anybody who was banned from his alma mater’s campus for any period of time is automatically suspect.

(Remember, kids, the choices you make as a youngling can continue to stalk you as an adult.)
