Does he come with peak Derrick Henry?

No, but he can't screw up Kyle Pitts and Bijan Robinson any more.

Post-peak Derrick Henry is available tho.

    Tanneyhill too.

They aren't going for another back, not even Henry, with Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren, but the rumors about signing Tannehill as a backup already started.

The Commanderskins fans were just waiting for Ben Johnson. Oops.

Here comes Belichick to be the most secretive executive in the D.C. area!

It is odd though for Johnson to pull back. I don't see two situations that will be better on the horizon. Though I did figure DC would end up with a retread - Vrabel or Belichick - given you have a new ownership group - which typically want a proven commodity.

If Philly or Dallas blows out their coaches next year......

Snyder is gone, but that is a bad roster. If that was the only option Johnson had, I can't blame him. I also think the way the season ended for the Lions probably had a lot to do with it, too. With limited options, maybe he figured he might as well return and take his chances with all that talent.

Agreed. If you win it all, you take the DC gig. Go out of your current job on top. There’s a risk in staying, of course, but it’s probably a better situation than the Washington club can offer.

Washington has a ton of cap space and the second overall pick. That could be turned around quickly with some smart moves.

They do have that going for them. Also some extra draft capital. It's not a Carolina 2023 situation he'd be walking into. But I really do think he ballked at leaving because of how badly things ended.
