Since it is the opening week, why not put the actual opener on Wednesday and the Brazil game on Thursday? I get the NFL doesn't care that's a high school football night but you'd think they'd avoid Friday when it easily could be.

The NFL does not give one flying F about high school or college football. See Black Friday. And it's going on Friday in Brazil because, well, why not.

Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961 says NFL can't broadcast a game within 75 miles of high school football or college football game taking place at the same time from the second Friday in September to the second Saturday in December.

The thing about Black Friday is that it is A. in the afternoon and B. at a time of year when so many teams' seasons have already ended.

I would imagine everyone has a game the first Friday night in September. November 29th would be pretty safe

Black Friday game was streamed, not broadcast. Hello loophole.

Don't think it will be the Browns.

Billy Joel scheduled at Browns Stadium on Sept. 13. Browns will need to be on the road the following Sunday and ideally the Sunday after to ensure the field is back in shape. So they need to play at home for the opener. Then two weeks on the road.

Has any starting QB of a Super Bowl ever been lost for the game due to injury? Seems crazy I can't think of one in over 55 games - more than 100 qbs.

If you mean injured during the game itself, I think Jim Kelly had to leave the game when the Cowboys blew out the Bills the first time.

A quick Google suggests Unitas in SB V and maybe Bradshaw in X

I'm not sure many have been knocked out early in games. Bradshaw was knocked out by a big hit in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl X. I think it was on the 64-yard touchdown pass to Swann. I'm not sure when Unitas's injury happened.

I think Unitas' was before the half.

He took a big shot to the ribs (which were sore to begin with). Played one series after the hit, then sat for the rest of the game.
