Yeah, I'm right there with you. "Sports" was such a great album, every song a winner to me.

I wish their success could have matched that for a few more albums, but it's still one of my favorites. Caught the band two nights in a row on the "Sports" tour, epic shows in city auditoriums 75 miles apart. Much more fun than stadium or arena shows would have been.

And this song is always a favorite. Double-barreled raw power in the music and the message ...

 

I had already matriculated to Prince and Springsteen by the time Huey Lewis came along. Y'all have fun.

Huey Lewis had some serious lyrics, but we all remember his band by a couple of goofball songs and videos like "I Want a New Drug" and "Hip to Be Square." He had a sense of humor, but humor in music sadly has a short half-life.

Plus he like looked 50 in 1983.

 

Robert Plant's SOLO career started 40 years ago.

 

My junior high-aged self always chuckled at the “Big Log” song title.

My 52-year-old self does, too.

 

His first solo album, Pictures and Eleven, is a great record

Nashville may not be ready for it, but I don't think Beyonce cares.

I'd add that it's past time that the Nashville country establishment pulled their heads out of their backsides and give female country artists some damn air time. If it takes a Black woman to get that through their heads, so much the better.
