I firmly believe no one should have a Hall of Fame vote for any Hall who won't make their choice public. What utter cowardice by allegedly truth-seeking journalists. And Peter. who I've known for many years, could just break that spell because he's got the juice. Alas, he's also a solid institutionalist. Which, I might add, is no sin. I just wish he wasn't in this case.

I know that. He always has because he has professional integrity. But it ought to be mandatory for all the others.

I have read sports pages since 1966. I have read a lot of sports writers who considered themselves institutionalists who loved the sport they covered. In my reading experience the correlation between a reporter who is an institutionalist and also has been co-opted by that sport or teams P.R. department is extremely high.

Truth. That sounds like the most miserable way possible to spend almost eight hours.

The 70 minute debate was about Buddy Parker. I'll bet a majority of the voters weren't even born when Parker was coaching. Therefore, the entire argument hinged on research and opinions about the pre-Super Bowl era of pro football. In other words, it was scribes pondering ancient texts, a sure formula for overly wordy arguments and arguments impossible to resolve.

Tough seeing McMichael like that. Happy for him and his family and friends though. Is it just me or did his jersey always seem to have extra space between the 7 and 6. Guy was a beast.

He won an NFL title with the Lions. Destroyed the great Paul Brown's team. What else should a guy have to do?

More impressive is he won back-to-back titles with the Lions, made the championship game the next year.

No one will ever top this guy in that department. Tightest jersey in football history.
