The 2024 running motorsports thread

Atlanta was a helluva race today. I like Blaney, but that was such a fun finish. Cindric's pass on four-wide in the last 50 laps was cool as shit.

 

NASCAR has fined Joey Logano $10K for modifying his left glove. There was a piece of webbing put between the thumb and finger, and he held it up against the window netting during qualifying.
Somewhere, Smokey Yunick and Junior Johnson and laughing their butts off.

 

In things that matter, Noah Gragson and Ryan Preece have lost all their points after being penalized for nonconforming air deflectors at Atlanta. Gragson is actually below sea level right now (-6 points), while Preece is at zero.

CHARLOTTE — It might not be called the Intimidator anymore, but Carowinds is hoping “Thunder Striker” will still intimidate visitors.
The second-biggest roller coaster at Carowinds will no longer be themed for NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt. The park posted to social media on Wednesday announcing that the roller coaster would now be called Thunder Striker.
No reason was given for the renaming, but the Intimidator trademark belongs to Earnhardt’s surviving wife.

 

Chase Briscoe is a good driver. Some of these other guys, though … but I think we all recognize that the answer to “What’s going on at Stewart-Haas?” runs a lot deeper than that. Front Row Motorsports is more consistent across the board right now.

 

Kannapolis changed the name of its minor league baseball team from Intimidators to Cannon Ballers when it moved to the new stadium. Don't know if Teresa is enforcing the rights or things are rightly just moving on. Dale's been dead 23 years now, one more than the total of Daytona 500s he ran.

 

It's probably a little bit of both. I agree that it's time to move on. Heck, I like reading about Ty Cobb and the Black Sox, but I don't wear their jerseys because I obviously never saw them play. I did go see the Intimidators play in Kannapolis once, though.
