No. Any major title won without Gooch in the field is now completely illegitimate. Those are the rules.

Man, what a dick that guy is.

He was up at Creighton Farms in NOVA when we had our Amateur championship there in 2017 because he hosts an annual charity event there on the final Monday of June. Had a similar experience. Just kind of down to earth with no real air of arrogance to him.

Longtime Pittsburgh Post Gazette golf writer Marino Parascenzo was working on a story and trying to track down Nicklaus in the days before cell phones. He waited around the office all day for a call and, when he didn't get one, called back to talk to Jack's representative again. Told him he was leaving the office and would be home in an hour and to try him at home. He also said he had to stop at a meat store halfway between the office and home and he might be there for a bit and then gave that number to the rep. Parascenzo drives to the meat store, walks in and the butcher sees him.

"Are you Marino Paracscenzo?" he asks.

    "Yes," he replies.

"Jack Nicklaus wants you to call him," said the butcher.

    Fantastic stories.

My Dad walked into the locker room at his club once and was dumbfounded to see Nicklaus in there. There was a Tour event at another course in town but Jack had a photo shoot for his clothing deal and the choice was made to use a quieter spot. There was no entourage or anything, just Jack alone changing his shirt.

Some quick perusals of recent Anthony Kim photos makes me think he hoovered a not insignificant amount of booger sugar during his layoff.

LIV can't be called smart on many things but giving Kim a soft opening in Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong might be, before he comes back to the U.S. and media that are dying to fill in the blanks.

I hope he plays well. Just make it worth all the commotion.

EDIT: Opened with 76 in first round. Seven bogeys, one birdie.

All eyes were on Anthony Kim back playing professional golf. And by all eyes, at least a half dozen fans on the course. Maybe even a dozen.

After one round, he sits in last place in the event. He topped one and had a shank in the round. Scintillating stuff.

Kim looked like any other douchebro. Was he sucking down a White Claw and vaping between shanks?

Throw in a handclap emoji and it's good, my dude!

There are a few 76s at PGA National too. It does happen sometimes to pros.
