The E-3 - America's AWACS - has been in service since before I was born. We've never lost one in combat.

His posts often show how brainwashed people are. We have a similar problem.

If you notice, there is a massive divide between the young and the old.

Basically, if you have a memory of the 90s, you like (or love) Putin. If you're under 30 and have no other point of reference, your views are different.

Somewhat similar to Americans who lived through the Great Depression vs. those who didn't. Perspective is everything. And I'm not going to tell people who endured hardships I cannot imagine how they should feel about things.

Weird situation as Ukraine is taking it to Russia on the sea and in the air, but are giving up ground.

Interesting Twitter thread/report on morale in the Russian army. Seems the inmates might literally be running the asylum at the front lines. Lots of stories about torture, harsh punishment, sub-standard medical care and desertions within the ranks.

Russia still has, and always will have until they break, the manpower advantage. Where they've had success is basically in using human wave attacks to eventually overwhelm the Ukrainians. It's been 100 years and change since World War I and the Russians are still using the same tactics they did back then.

Here's the latest scorecard from Oryx.
Russia has lost 14,516 vehicles including 2,754 tanks, about 1,400 artillery pieces and multiple rocket launchers, and about 240 manned aircraft and helicopters. And that's just equipment that has been visually confirmed through open source intelligence to be destroyed, abandoned or captured. It doesn't count breakdowns or things of that nature, which you know has to be a high number at this point.
Russia has also lost 20 ships, with about a dozen of those being larger vessels — including one submarine. All of that to a country without a navy.
Ukraine has lost 5,213 vehicles including 748 tanks, about 520 artillery pieces and MLRS launchers, and 118 aircraft and helicopters.
Interestingly, Russia has had more of its tanks captured (539) than it has destroyed Ukrainian tanks (500).

A similar (and similarly long) story along those same lines. This one dives into how drones and AI are transforming the battlefield, how Ukraine has developed a superior air attack and close air support wing out of cheap drones, and how it is the next evolution of tactics for overmatched armies. A lot of major countries have spent a lot of time and money developing armor that is now easy prey for a $200 quadcopter drone with an RPG round attached to it.

This isn't Ukraine vs. Russia per se, just some really cool pictures from a British carrier on a NATO exercise in Scandinavia.
