He gave up three goals but was still the unquestioned First Star of the Game.

The Jets situation is the result of the NHL having too many teams that discerning hockey fans aren't interested in forking over half their mortgage to see. Seattle, Columbus, Nashville, Arizona of course, St. Louis, Anaheim, San Jose, Ottawa. Lots of nobodies on those teams. It's the middle of winter and 25 below. You're not going to warm up the truck to go watch any of those teams unless you get a free ticket. The Canadian teams should have a weighted home schedule. I just looked at the Jets schedule and Arizona visits twice. Replace one of those games with the Leafs or Habs or Bruins, who only visit once a year. Not smart business.

In their third season I think the Kraken are still filling their arena night after night — although in a city filled with transplants, you see a whole lot of opponent’s jerseys in the stands. Or you teams with a die-hard fan base, like Edmonton, and have what happened today, with Oilers fans taking over the building.

Your point about ticket cost is 100% accurate. It’s $200 and up just to get into Climate Pledge Arena. If you’ve got a family of four, buy a few snacks and drinks, plus parking … no way can most of us drop a grand on one night of entertainment.

If you follow hockey you would know there a lot of great individual players on those teams.

It is, of course, like that everywhere. I don't know how regular people afford season tickets anywhere. As of this moment on Ticketmaster, four tickets to the Islanders-Blues game on Tuesday--a mediocre home team opposing a slightly less mediocre well-out-of-market team--are $169. Parking is around $40. We were at a game there a few weeks ago and routine food for four was almost $100. How many times a year can you blow $400+ on a night out?

Seemed to miss this yesterday, but the Caps waived Kuznetsov. Will be very curious to see if someone takes a flier on him. If not, he'll end up in Hershey. Regardless, he'll always be the guy who got the Caps over the hump with the OT goal in Pittsburgh in Game 6.

His contract would lead me to believe he will be playing in Hershey . He should have won the Conn Smythe

Tarasenko to Florida. ... at a reasonable cost b/c of his no-trade clause.

I really like this for them. Florida is a beast of a team.
