Dems need to realize every applause line, doesn't need a standing O.

Three cups of coffee will do the trick.

Probably zero snorts, but we can't absolutely be sure with the Shy Ronny Jackson medical oversight.

Don't news orgs still keep track of "standing ovations?" It's silly for sure. Also can really stop the flow of a speech. Especially for someone who isn't a gifted orator.

Great jab on people taking credit for project money they voted against.

He’s had a couple of good zingers and hasn’t mentioned windmill cancer yet.

It's really odd - you would have thought they would have had instructions - designate one House member to be the "stander" on designated lines.

Biden is doing quite a bit better than I thought. He came out reading the speech/prompter really fast — a bit curious on opening with a 1941 WWII reference and bringing up Ukraine.

    But he’s been… good.

On the faster speech cadence, it’s a smart move at his age. It’s hard on the high side of 70 to stop, slow down for effect and let a line sink in, etc.

It's transitioned nicely from a campaign speech to a traditional SOTU.

As a reformed comic, speeding up eliminates pauses, which eliminates silence, which eliminates windows for the hecklers to climb through.

Reading fast and clearly was his ticket. Seems like he punched both.
