    The bullshit and nonsense gets so tedious. Not everything is a shadowy conspiracy of some sort (which people are so eager to believe that they just parrot it).

    Dmitri Simes is fucking American. He was born in Russia. But he's been in U.S. for more than 50 years, and he has been prominent in U.S. politics since he was an adviser to Richard Nixon. Those are the kinds of circles he travels in.

    1) Chubb is a multinational Swiss company that does business in 54 countries. Yes, it does business in Russia, because it is a major insurer to the oil and gas industries. It insured the Nord Stream pipleine. It also does business in Portugal, South Africa, China, Brazil, Ecuador, Australia, Myanmar and dozens of other countries. ... that have nothing to do with the bond that Trump posted, either.

    2) Simes has NOTHING to do with Chubb. His "think tank" heavily influenced Trump's foreign policy. He also got burned (just as almost everyone who gets within two zip codes of Trump does) because of all the investigations it led to -- which vindicated him. Yeah, he was in the fucking Mueller Report (boogity, boogity). ... which pretty explicitly said that he (and his think tank) did nothing illegal. He's a slimy kind of guy who is involved in influence peddling on behalf of companies and politicians. He's like lots of other slimeballs who operate within proximity of politicians. ... and he still has nothing to do with Chubb or some boogity boogity conspiracy related to the bond he posted.

    Doing work is hard. Better just to lift someone else's story from 20 years ago. Lying and Lazy, two tent poles of the trumplican party.

    She also seems to be a-ok with a presidental nominee with multiple rape allegations who has also been found liable for sexual assault.

    I mean, if the speech said "I went to the border, and heard the story of a woman who had been sex trafficked...." she would have been fine. You almost wonder if the original draft did "write around" the "encounter" - and a different re-writer "cleaned it up" to make it a lie.

    Certainly possible. Doesn't excuse her from saying something she knew was a complete misrepresentation of the story. I assume she's smart enough to know what she's reading. Otherwise Ron Burgundy has no business being a US Senator. Though she looks like Einstein compared to dumbfuck Tuberville.

    How does someone who supposedly graduated from the University of Chicago Law School not understand basic civics?

    Neither the Speaker of the House nor the Mayor of Washington, DC have any authority over the DC National Guard. It answers only to the president. They cannot refuse if the president orders its deployment.
