Think he's making closer to $3 million now at OU, which I'm guessing will be much more than what DePaul can pay him. But maybe he didn't sign up to play in the SEC and would rather close out his career trying to become the guy who brought his hometown school back from the dead. Maybe his family didn't like Norman (though his son is a walk-on for the Sooners and his daughter is a senior for the OU women's team). Maybe being basketball coach at a football school isn't for him.

    There's also this speculation:

Hampton University fires Buck Joyner after a 9-24 season. He had coached there for 15 years and was 222-257. Hampton left the MEAC after 2017-2018 and had one winning season since, 18-17 the following year in the Big South. It's now in the CAA.

I get that Loyola had some long-ago tradition, but it's tame compared to DePaul. Not saying he'll revive DePaul, but he has a good of shot as anyone.

Maybe like most sane people, he'd rather make $2 million and live in a great city like Chicago than make $3 million and live with the nutjobs in the Oklahoma twisterbelt. He won't be poor in either location, so why not also be happy?

Luke Yaklich out at UIC. So Porter has his choice of jobs.

Their first call has to be to the Longwood coach, but he may wind up with better options before the offseason is over.

I imagine Dane Fife will probably keep his powder dry until Michigan decides whether or not they're gonna keep Juwan Howard.

I don't think Fife would be a high profile home run choice for U-M but they could certainly do much worse, if they decide to launch Howard.

Or they could pony up big bucks and go after somebody big.

For his part Fife would probably be a decent option at DePaul.

For whatever reason, all indications are that Howard is coming back. It makes zero sense

This -- if I were Moser I'd be like, yes please give me a six-year, 12 million contract

I don't think Michigan would terminate a coach while a season was in progress, short of Mel Tucker level catastrophic misconduct. (There have been behind the scenes reports of verbal confrontations involving Howard nearly escalating to physical fights; that would do it)

Apparently if Michigan wanted to reassemble the John Beilein staff in its entirety, they would be pretty much free to do so now if they so desired.
