I find that most people who believe Pickett is getting screwed in any way -- and not you, oop -- tend to fall back on the Steelers being .500 or better under him. And I've always held that they've been .500 or better in spite of him.

I didn't see anything to indicate that he could be an elite QB when he was at Pitt, and nothing has happened to change my mind.

Did Barkley just need a better supporting cast, or is he on a Gurleyesque decline? I lean toward the latter at this point.

    I'm just so negative. ;)

Josh Jacobs to the Packers, who will release Aaron Jones.

Jones and the Cowboys would be a great fit.

Jones was an absolute stud late in the season and in the playoffs. I don't follow the numbers very much -- is Jacobs a better value than Jones? Obviously, he's younger, so there's that.

There is no market for Fields.

That's a lot of money for a RB entering his seventh season.

Wilson to the Steelers makes sense, and they could probably re-sign Rudolph too if rhey really don't have faith that Pickett should be the automatic No. 2. When all things are healthy the AFC North is the toughest division in the NFL and the Steelers had the worst quarterback situation. They had a pretty friendly schedule in the second half of the season with 5 or 6 games against backup QBs and they still needed to duck into the playoffs. Vet minimum upgrades the QB situation, take it.

I give Kirk Cousins credit. He has played his career wonderfully. He never took a penny less than he wanted. He got most of his money guaranteed. Played at a high enough level to still have top 8-12 starting QB value in this league. And I do think you can win a championship with him. Probably won't happen, but his skill level is good enough.

Wilson is less than half a percent of the total Steeler cap.

Cousins will be about 15 percent of Atlanta’s total cap.

    They are both 35.

And they will be making nearly the same amount of guaranteed money in 2024.

Mid-30s is clearly where life begins.

There's a "report" that the Bears are not shopping Fields and will not decide to do so until the visit with Caleb Williams. This is Poles covering his ass after realizing there is no market for him masquerading as news.

The definition of insanity is repeating the same thing and expecting different results. The Steelers have done business the same way for a very long time, and Khan seems determined to change that. A $1.2 million investment to upgrade the quarterback room and potentially challenge Pickett to show improvement is well worth it. It’s a drop in the bucket and allows the Steelers to invest draft picks at center, tackle, defensive line, cornerback, linebacker, etc. With Russell and Smith as OC, it seems clear: run the ball, take your shots using play-action, protect the ball, don’t put the defense in a bad position. Imagine what kind of game-changer Watt can be in the Steelers are constantly playing with a lead.

I don't think Pickett is getting screwed, but he was damn good his final year at Pitt. I think he was plunked into some lousy situations with coaching, poor pass protection, and a couple of spoiled jackasses at receiver, so maybe he could be fixed, but he's not getting screwed. They are absolutely right to get as good a quarterback as possible to compete with him/take the job from him.
