Seems like a weird thing to put on Trump. There's a version of that speech that the left may find abhorrent - but it's not parody. As an example, you could take, say, Sutton Foster - who looks a lot like Britt - and say "now, give this speech, but dial down the tone, drop your shoulders, and say these ultra-partisan things like you're talking to a friend." And Foster, a good actor, could do it - and really scare the shit out of people.

Britt cannot.

And I doubt Trump would have balked at a better, lower-key delivery. I fully expect him to turn on her at some point, call her "a little much" or something true, but also mean.

But it actually takes a bright person - which Britt is - to miss with that level of projected emotion. This is what happens when somebody takes on the culture war persona and doesn't really internalize it - which, that last part is a good thing! But she looked ridiculous trying to parrot it.

So did DeSantis, FWIW.

The mendacious people who really mean it - Bannon - are bemused by it. They want to watch the world burn.

 

To say nothing of his golf scores.
