Commies sign Mariota to a 1-year deal. With the likelihood they are drafted a QB this means Sam Howell is going to be dealt.

I wonder if his trade market is going to be bigger than Justin Fields. 23 years old with a 4,000-yard season in the bank and 21 touchdowns. Lot of interceptions too. Both players were in bad situations, but with the way the NFL is, I think Howell might the QB that draws more interest.

Seems like teams are more interested in solidifying their back-up QB slots than their starters. Right now I have QB1 vacancies in:

Vegas, Denver, Tennessee, New England, Giants, Minnesota, Washington, Chicago (its unclear who will take the snap on opening day for any of these teams).

And the following QBs projecting as first rounders, Williams, Daniels, McCarthy, Maye, Nix, Penix. that leaves two teams likely competing for Fields. Any other FAs available that might be QB1 - worthy?

    Who's WR2 now that Pickens becomes WR1?

This makes no sense at all.

Umm, Will Levis is QB1 in Nashville. I've been here for a while and he's the second-most talked about athlete in the state (behind Knecht).

Nashville is in for some bitter disappointment.

I had no idea the Titans were solid on Levis. Of course, I have no idea what they are doing there. Hired a coach who has never called plays before, I'm guessing they are in the midst of a total teardown, but there really is no one left in that organization you can "build on." Is the goal to REALLY suck this year and get a high pick to grab the QB of the future? Cuz Levis ain't it.

The jury is more out on Ran Carthon as GM than anything else.

I don't love it. I assume the Steelers are getting the higher pick because Jackson's contract is a slightly-higher cap hit, about $500,000. The Steelers need help at cornerback and Jackson should fit in there, but this creates a big problem at wide receiver. They also cut Allen Robinson, so their top two right now are George Pickens and Calvin Austin, who only caught 17 passes last season. He is more of a slot guy, anyway. Sure, this is supposed to be a deep draft at receiver, but the Steelers still have needs at center, offensive tackle, defensive tackle, and safety. They probably still need another cornerback.

That said, I doubt Khan is done. The Steelers supposedly want to rework Jackson's deal to reduce the cap hit for 2204. There have been rumors of them signing Tyler Boyd, who is from Pittsburgh and went to Pitt. He would be a solid replacement for Johnson.

The other part of this is there are reports that Johnson wanted out. He was very vocal about wanting the team to bring back Rudolph and start him, which seems to be off the table with the Wilson signing. There were issues with him during last season, specifically taking plays off. He would just stand around on the field during a play. The worst was against the Bengals. He just stood there as the ball was snapped, and didn't react when there was a fumble that bounced right past him. I think this is a sign that the Steelers have had enough. I like what Khan has done so far enough that I'll wait and see how it plays out before criticizing this one move too much.
