Everyone has their artist or artists who they feel were undervalued by history. This one's mine. The king of power pop died over the weekend.

The fact that many will first associate him with the syrupy "Hungry Eyes" and "Make Me Lose Control" is sad to me. Between his solo career and the Raspberries, he was a consummate musician. Some of the deep tracks on his solo albums were stunning.

    A little bit heart-broken. RIP.

This may only annoy me, but putting "ABC News" on the obit photo makes it look like he was the network bandleader or something.

Cleveland lost Michael Stanley in March three years ago.

Thanks Shottie. You had more gumption than I did to start a thread Eric Carmen deserves.

If anyone wants to take a dive into the Raspberries, one of my favorite bands, go to the dead musicians thread*. Posted some of my Eric-based faves.

    * A thread that shouldn't exist because it's a shitty sensibility for a thread and running threads suck ass anyway.

He also covered "Hey Deanie" better than Shaun Cassidy ever did.

Trying to figure a modern (or semi-modern) comp to the Raspberries with the power chords and the melody.

Closest I can think of is Extreme.A band I LOATHED in 1991-ish.

When I kick, you have my permission to make a one-line post in the Running Dead SJ Members Thread. And you can stick it at the end of Metro briefs on B4.

Well, I was happy to provide the memory of Carmen with a little more than that.
