I feel like Penske cherishes his ownership of IMS but IndyCar was just a part of the sales package that he has to deal with.

Gwen and I didn't go yesterday for several reasons.

    1. St. Pete is a neat track for the drivers but the sightlines are terrible for the fans. There aren't any places to stand where you can see over the barriers if you buy general admission, and prices for decent seats went up significantly this year.

    2. Gwen would rather see the watered-down PGA Tour stop at Innisbrook later this month (plus baseball), so it was a matter of too many entertainment choices and too little discretionary spending.

    3. I already have two seats in A Stand in May (which are way better seats for way less money), so I'll get my IndyCar fix at the 500 again this year.

Plus the Gatornationals were this weekend, I think.

They've also slashed ticket prices and refunded those who had already bought, so the race doesn't exactly seem popular. Yet it will still have the largest purse in series history outside the 500, which is sad on a number of levels.

But I just got my Indy 500 tix and it included info on how prices are going up for 2025, so at least the one IndyCar event that matters is thriving.

Mine will go to Georgia and then be forwarded here to Florida, unless we've already left and then they'll get forwarded back. I'm interested in 2025 prices, given our RV park just sent out a note with a 15 percent year-over-year increase for next season.

Goodyear Eagles are the Top Flite of racing tires. However, this has been a Bristol throwback kind of race.

EDIT: Hell of a show. Tire wear and pit strategy made for actual lapped traffic for the leaders to negotiate! Absolutely stunned NASCAR didn't throw a bogus caution because only two cars were close to each other.

Hell of a show, that mostly nobody bought tickets to see in person. Green flag drops on a Sunday race in spring weather at about the time the race should have been ending. I understand TV dictates all things, but if you want people to fill the seats, many of those people need to be at work Monday morning. If the race gets over after 7 p.m., then it takes you another couple of hours to be free of traffic, your travel radius is cut significantly.

Nobody cares about fans in seats. Look at every sport. TV dictates everything.

From the looks of that crowd, I don't think it took long to be free of traffic.

Was it even a third filled? It looked like almost no one was in turns 3 and 4.

Am I mistaken that there used to be a waitlist to get tickets for Bristol races? What a sad sight that was yesterday.
