Keenan Allen to the Bears for a fourth-round pick. They won't be very busy after the first round.

The Broncos will be paying Russell Wilson this year, less the offset for the minimum salary that the Steelers will pay. So the Broncos are on the hook for approximately 35 million dollar cap hit.

In 2025 Wilson ahs an injury guarantee worth about 46 million in 2025. So if Wilson has a career ending injury this year the Broncos are on the hook.

But what if Wilson has a decent year, stays healthy and signs a 20 million dollar contract in 2025 do the Broncos owe Wilson any money? Is the 2025 guarantee only for injury?

I don't understand the strategy of bringing in a rookie quarterback but trading draft picks for veterans. It seems contradictory to me but it is the Bears.

I assume the theory is that the rookie quarterback will do better with accomplished veteran receivers.

    Yes, that should be obvious.

Allen is considered one of the league's best route runners, too, so that is the kind of thing that should help a young quarterback learn the intricacies of the game.

I had a feeling Howell was going to have more interest. He has an extra year on his rookie contract and his QB style is one that fits 90% of the NFL offenses. Fields has a couple of things working against him -- he was in a horrible organization that didn't develop for shit and either you're bringing him in for a one-year backup gig, which isn't worth a high draft pick, or you're selling yourself on accepting that fifth year and investing $31M in a QB that needs to be developed.

RIght now Fields has to be his own advocate. Be willing to take a QB2 role, be willing to go somewhere without having that fifth year guaranteed. It's no longer about finding the perfect fit, it's about figuring out how to survive in the league.

Minnesota making moves to maybe get a shot at a franchise arm. Probably hoping to get anywhere between the Patriots at No. 3 and the Giants at No. 6.

Coaching played a part, but when you play well early in games and tend to struggle as the game goes on, including being the worst quarterback in the league in the fourth quarter, that's a huge red flag that isn't necessarily related to coaching. At a certain point, players have to make plays WHEN PLAYS NEED TO BE MADE. So many NFL games come down to the wire that it should come as no surprise that the market for Fields is virtually non-existent when you couple his biggest weakness with the contract timing you mentioned.

Keenan Allen is basically a one-year guy who might help right away. Then if he's good, the Bears can pursue an additional deal.
