Vandy would hire someone with Wade's reputation? I find that hard to believe.

Doesn’t he still have the show cause?

He’s led McNeese to the tourney.

It runs through next year. If they let him coach this year though, I don't know you uphold it for next season

They wanted him when he was at VCU but couldn’t fend off LSU. Nashville native. I forget which well-heeled private school he went to, but he’s connected to the old money circles that grease the wheels at Vandy when things are going well. And their archrival has sued the NCAA rulebook out of existence. I’m not even sure what schools are supposed to list as their cause for not getting probation, a promise that he won’t violate the rules that will never be able to be enforced again?

Jerry Stackhouse, just whacked at Vanderbilt, could be an interesting idea at UD-Mercy. I suppose he might even get a sniff at Michigan, but his 70-92 record at Vandy isn't a real great recommendation for a big time B1G job.

Actually in the last three seasons before this one, Stackhouse notched up the win totals to 9-19-22 before the wheels fell off this year (with a drop back to 9). So it's certainly arguable he had the 'Dores at least trending in the right direction.

Stackhouse was pretty well regarded during his Pistons playing tenure, but it's not like he's an all-time great (he left before they got good). Still, he'd be a recognizable name and at 49, he might want to keep his hands in the game (unless he can scare up an NBA assistant gig).

I thought a Long Beach State man would coach Long Beach State.

I would assume Stack tries for an NBA assistant gig and otherwise heads back to the G League. His teams always played much better in March than in November, but he was constantly losing huge chunks of his roster to the portal, and before NIL became a thing too. His players always carried themselves with the joy of a prison lifer.

Do you think LBSU asks for compensation if Monson gets another/better gig? Did they waive the buyout?

So did anyone have a better weekend than Kevin Keatts, the NC State coach? He has a clause in his contract that gives him an automatic two year contract extension if NC St won the ACC tournament.

And now they're an opening at Duquesne.
