So I happened to chat over beers yesterday with a guy who is a major supplier to Space X and Blue Origin in Huntsville, Canaveral and Boca Chica. He had some interesting insights, none of which were particularly promising for those of us who want to see the DoD and NASA transition away from Space X and towards another launch partner. Namely, he said everything Space X does is first class, cost be damned, just get it right and be thorough. He said OTOH Blue Origin is very much corporate-first, meaning they cut costs, they treat employees poorly, they have tremendous turnover, and they are not nearly as innovative as Space X. Overall, he pretty much painted a picture that BO is a poor substitute to Space X.

 

Gee, I wonder why?
