Bad Day Advice

I'm currently having a bad day at work. Nothing super serious, thankfully, just normal feeling unappreciated sort of stuff, but it was a little more public in a work meeting. I'm feeling down on a Friday with more work to do before I can knock off for the weekend. So it goes.

But it's gotten me to thinking - what's a go-to thing you do or efforts you make to try to turn things back around when it's a tough day? Maybe one of those things you do or suggest will work for me today, or someone else tomorrow, or maybe it will even remind yourself to do again once in a while.

Find a coworker I like and start making fun of those we don’t.

Take a walk around the block ... or several blocks.

Smoke breaks were the best in these situations.

One of the only things I miss about smoking.

Help somebody out with something. Give a buck to a homeless person, jumpstart a strangers car, help an old lady across the street. Seriously. This works.

Go to the batting cages, if it’s an option. It’s surprisingly cathartic.

Grab a beer if that’s your thing. Grab another indulgence if beer isn’t your thing.

Reach out to a friend who is good at getting back to you and someone you know has your back and will listen for a half hour. In my life I’ve always found women better at this, but YMMV.

    Post here.

If all else fails, go to sleep tonight knowing you (hopefully) won’t have to focus on work until Monday.

If a write-up was involved, I wipe my dainty derriere with those.

This reminds me of my infamous admission here about a break-up and a toothbrush.
