Surprise onsides are a thing of the past - probably not too big of a deal. Still in play at the end (when everyone knows its coming anyway). Seems to me with every "solution" the NFL dreams up - they create two or three additional problems.
Opening up the passing game in the '80s led to decreased emphasis on the running game, more passing, more receivers getting crunched, more chances for QBs to get sacked and hurt.
The hip-drop was a "solution" for players worried about lowering their head and getting tossed for targeting.

As someone who has a very small Christmas gathering (which I very much prefer), I appreciate them filling part of the day like this. Might get myself a Rob Lowe shield hat to show my appreciation.

So would we have a bunch of Thursday games the week before or will teams be expected to play on obscenely short rest?

I mean, yes, it beats the hell out of the NFL. Will be interesting how they workshop this schedule-wise. Two games the previous Thursday?

Two teams that play on a short week on Thanksgiving come back a week later on the following Thursday. Can't imagine players would go for teams having their bye on the weekend of Dec. 22 and play that Wednesday, in essence negating a full week bye, though getting two 1 1/2 weeks off.

Also, how many games? One? Two? Three?

They could have some games on the previous Saturday, which would give the same amount of rest teams normally get before a Thursday game.

The story Mile High linked to says that it will be two games, and the four teams involved will play the previous Saturday.

That makes sense considering college is over by that point. When do they normally start throwing in Saturday games? Is it normally that week before Christmas?
