Cowpokes really don't care about basketball, do they?

Wazzu had three current and past coaches in the tourney this year with Smith, Bennett and Sampson. Any other school with a similar number?

Texas has three -- Rick Barnes, Shaka Smart and Rodney Terry. Marquette has two (Shaka and Buzz Williams).

Two for Alabama (Nate Oats, Anthony Grant) and one color guy (Avery Johnson).

Guy can coach, but he's really taking a big leap there from JMU--where any recruit who has a pulse is admitted--to Vandy. But as you noted, with his AD leaving and James Madison having earned a win in the NCAA Tournament, it was now or never to make the power conference leap.

Three for VCU (Grant, Shaka, Wade) and they were bad start away in the A10 title game from making it four w/Ryan Odom getting there in his first year. That school never misses.

Andy Enfield to SMU? Richard (not Rick!) Pitino to Louisville?

Enfield has majorly underachieved at USC. Bigly.

In the grand scheme of things, five tournament appearances in 11 seasons (with another likely appearance scuttled by the pandemic) puts Enfield in the top 1 percent of all-time USC basketball coaches. But a school with USC's resources and location should do more than one Elite Eight, one second-round exit and three first-round flameouts, and now it'll be a cultural oddball in the Big Ten.
