Spring break week, the Marriott and Hilton had plenty of open space.

Having lived in CDA from 2009 to 2021, I certainly knew. And the rise of Trump and restrictions when COVID hit made the Idaho panhandle region a magnet for MAGAs. There literally are entire real estate agencies catering to those types of buyers in North Idaho.

When I have more time after work I will try to find out more details about what happened with the Utah women’s team.

Pre-COVID, the junior college in Coeur d’Alene used to host a pretty large high school holiday hoops tournament the week between Christmas and New Year’s, and quite a few teams with black players from Seattle and elsewhere participated. I don’t remember hearing about any problems at that time, but again, the political vibe has gotten worse in recent years.

It’s also not unusual for big events in Spokane to generate hotel room use in North Idaho. The Bloomsday road race in early May and Hoopfest street basketball tournament in early summer are two annual examples when hotel rooms are hard to find across the region.

Shouting the N-word and running away, in a big pickup truck with the extra exhaust spewing no doubt. That’s North Idaho in 2024. As the billboards will tell you, welcome to Trump Country.

Those same guys yelling slurs at the women’s basketball players and their traveling party would sh@$! themselves the instant they were confronted about their hatred and stupidity. Just like their fraud of a leader.

One day after WSU loses its men's basketball coach, AD Pat Chun goes west to UW.
Nice hire by the Huskies but the hits keep coming for the Cougs.

    Fixed that:

Now white supremacist Dave Reilly, who’s made inroads w/ local GOP by marching alongside Nazis in Charlottesville, is disrupting a presser abt the incident.

Good move. At least Chun fought to keep lots of money for WSU (and OSU).

What a scramble in Seattle. Third AD in seven months. New football coach. New basketball coach.

Apparently there was some big travel volleyball tournament there as well and they took up most of the space

Why would they schedule the volleyball tournament there for that weekend when Spokane has had that subregional for a handful of years. Unless the tournament is there every year, but that's not good on the NCAA organizers or others in Spokane.

Also, UC Irvine and South Dakota State stayed in CDA. Which is fine. It'd be like if Boulder was hosting a women's subregional and the other three teams stayed in Denver.

Been traveling all day and saw this when the plane landed. Not surprised. Can't hate a man for doubling his salary. He'll always hold a special place in the heart of VT fans.
