Women's game has more interesting coaches now - yes?

 

Men's coaches have adopted the stoic, controlled vibe. No longer any macho men like Bobby Knight throwing chairs and using fear to show how manly they are.

Women's coaches DGAF, and some are unhinged like Mulkey.

Dawn Staley is super interesting, and so damn good. I can't wait to see what she's doing in 10 years. I hope it's not coaching because I feel like she could do big things far beyond sports.

Geno is Geno, and there was a great feature on him in the Athletic recently.

Tara VanDerveer is one of the very best to ever coach anything, but I don't know that she's interesting. Maybe her blandness (and quiet excellence) makes her interesting in a way.

I loathe Mulkey, but she can certainly coach -- and she surely keeps things interesting.

After that ... I don't know that I can name many coaches, much less interesting ones. But I also haven't covered women's hoops regularly in a decade or so.

Random thought: Could see Calipari parachuting somewhere else in the next couple weeks. Nobody's very happy there. Get a deal that pays well but not as well as Kentucky and maybe he takes it.
