Do they have the infrastructure there to be able to use ferries? It’s more than you just plop a ferry on the water and away you go.

 

There are no docks for a ferry and you'll be fighting sea traffic once the bridge is cleared. I don't even know if they have enough ferries. A ferry service just won't be enough, and besides, 695 is the city hazmat route and that won't be allowed on a ferry.

That sounds way more exciting than it actually is.

 

The trucking alternative isn’t great — probably 695 to 83 to 76. I’d imagine that adds at least two hours.

 

At least getting a partial opening to the port open is great news. Will be highly restricted as max draft is 11 feet, but it's something.
