Yeah, the church they attend is pretty ultra-conservative, so that’s not a surprise.

I actually wish we had something akin to a monarchy but a non-hereditary one for ceremonial "head of state" purposes only and no actual constitutional authority. That way bad actors like Trump who want adulation and ceremony and the trappings of royalty without wanting to do actual executive work could satisfy their ego without sacrificing the rest of us. And it wouldn't always necessarily be a piece of shit like Trump anyway.

Israel has that (their official head of state is the President, not the PM) and until fucking Netanyahu took the reins as Prime Minister, you generally didn't have corrupt tyrants in the position, even if you had the occasional ideologue or incompetent boob.
