HVL - as she's dubbed on Instagram - has a million followers, and does seem like she'd make more just getting another year of NIL and endorsements. Her efficiency numbers in college - PERs ranging from 15.1 to 21.8 while at LSU and Louisville - aren't especially great, and she's 5'7" and a 33 percent shooter from range. In contrast, Clark's lowest PER was 35.4, and its 43.9 so far this year. Cameron Brink led the NCAA at 45.8, because it does favor centers more. Angel Reese's four year PER average was 39.1. (For funsies, other notable players' average - Breanna Stewart, 41.4; Sabrina Ionescu, 33.5; Elena Delle Donne, 49.9, and she has the two highest seasons ever.)

Indiana State's fatal flaw: once they turn on, they don't know how to turn off. No need for some of those early 3s when ISU had Seton Hall in deep shit in the final minutes. Live by the sword ...

The women's game is kind of tracking the men's game by about 50 years. You had the UCLA period (UConn women) which dominated for a good bit. Then later things opened up for other teams, but the big explosion in popularity started with Bird-Magic (Clark-Reese women). The WNBA is kind of at the pre-Bird-Magic stage of the NBA. We'll see what happens but I expect a huge bump.

A sentence I never expected to be typing as recently as two years ago: The WNBA really could stand to expand and take better advantage of the talent coming out of college every season.

That Portland doesn't have a team - nor the Bay Area is just bad management.

State was up 77-70 with three minutes to go, and never scored another point.

    Good, old fashioned bed shitting.

The league tried. They had to pull the plug because Portland can’t get its act together with Moda Center renovations.

She got burned so often in Monday's game the person she most compares to is Elvis "Toast" Patterson.

The absolute contempt that event organizers still have for women’s sports is breathtaking.

You're not wrong, but I put that on Mulkey. If you’re facing arguably the greatest shooter the game has seen, maybe find a defender who isn’t 5 inches shorter.

Gutter and Neutral Corner like this.
