I can’t imagine a guy who still has recruiting restrictions from the NCAA could get the job.

I’m a little surprised the portal deadlines haven’t been sued out of existence. If I can find a school to admit me for the start of the next semester, why wouldn’t the NCAA’s deadline be considered arbitrary restraint of trade?

One thing at a time. It will almost surely fall. The NCAA is impotent without an anti-trust exemption.

Yee haw. Can’t wait until some mid-major kid goes off in a a Thanksgiving tournament and a Top 25 power snaps him up in time for conference play.

I think the NCAA will successfully argue that players cannot transfer except at the end of an academic term. That'll mean a spate of Christmas break transfers every year.

I have wondered about this, too. Except even more awkward.
Guy begins year at State. State sucks. Tech, on the other hand, is one of State’s conference rivals and it’s 9-0 on Dec. 27.
The player suddenly transfers from State to Tech. Just in time for league play and a new semester.

    We'll get used to it.

It won't be long before there will be de facto trades: State has a surplus in the backcourt but is thin up front; Tech has plenty of bigs but needs guards.
