Just making sure for the record that you know Gibby has Parkinson's (actually was diagnosed going on nine years ago).

Orioles-Bucs in a barnburner, 4-4 top 11 in Steel City.

Danny Coulombe somehow saved Michael Baumann's ass by working out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the 10th after Baumann had already walked in a run.

EDIT: O'Neil Cruz single wins it in the 11th for Pittsburgh, 5-4.

Say a Hail Mary and denounce yourself three times and you shall be absolved.

Gibby's Parkinson's was one of the few things that people didn't criticize about Tigers broadcasts the last couple years. After the infamous Mario Impemba vs. Rod Allen Chair Altercation, Bally Sports Detroit gave the play by play spot as something of a lifetime achievement award to Matt Shepard, a local guy who was doing Michigan basketball on the radio, I think, and a bunch of back-up stuff (state football tournament games, etc.) It just didn't work. I don't think he was a great fit, and he wasn't helped by the fact that management (either the Tigers or FSD or both) made a conscious decision that, due to the unwatchable nature of the rebuild, they needed to make Tigers broadcasts something of the 1984 Tigers Nostalgia Show with Shepard as the emcee. That wore thin quickly, and you could tell that the bosses knew it because they started working in "players only" games, a strategy that backfired spectacularly when one of those games last summer was a combined no-hitter.

Shepard also was hamstrung by the fact that the Tigers' radio play by play guy, Dan Dickerson, is as good as they come, and that the team has a tradition on radio that dates back to Ernie and WJR at Tiger Stadium (Dan and Ernie briefly worked together).

But now it's legitimately a difficult decision to go between TV and radio now. They take some of the weight off Gibby by plugging in the likes of Craig Monroe (an average Tigers outfielder from the 2000s). I'm very familiar with Parkinson's, as my grandfather had it literally the whole time I knew him. But he died in 1999 (on Dec. 31 at 11:45 p.m., to be precise), and thankfully, treatment options have clearly progressed. He did a stint on the Tigers broadcasts with Josh Lewin in the late 90s where he was way too over the top (he infamously yelled "Get it outta yer system, boys!" before the infamous Parque-Palmer fight at Comiskey). Gibby sounds a bit off, but he's mellowed out a lot both from that and after managing.

Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel had reached base safely in all 36 games he’s played since his call up last season until the Orioles asked for a review of an infield single from last week which was reversed to be an error.

So the streak was snapped at 30. Apparently reaching on an error doesn’t count as reaching base for streak purposes.

It probably was an E, but why dispute it almost a week later?

    1) Any background on this? I know we have some who follow the Angels here.
    2) The NBA has overturned "adjustments" to the stats in the past.

    EDIT: @MTM covered this.

Hilarious equating Schanuel with all the other things. No one cares.

It was really dumb to change it after a week and I wonder why it took so long. That said, it was an error. That was not a spectacularly difficult play. If that ball is caught, the kid is out. They’re crying about it because they thought the streak continued when if it’s scored correctly, it never would have.

You have a couple days to appeal and then there’s a few days for the decision to be made. I think the Elias Sorts Bureau handles the stats, so it’s not even MLB deciding it.
