Wahlberg's last head coaching gig was 16 years ago at Pepperdine. He lasted a year and a half before he got fired for mistreating players while going 15-39. He has been a high school coach the last eight years. Fresno is a decent MWC job. What is the school thinking?

My guess? He has a lot of local ties. Two stints at Clovis West HS, one of the area's top high school programs, and one at Fresno City College. Has also been an assistant in the NBA.

I believe you can transfer at Christmas. I think the rule is you can't play for two different teams during the same academic year.

Former Kent State/ TCU/Ohio U head coach Jim Christian apparently headed to Canisius. The other finalist was current GMU associate head coach/former longtime St. Bona's assistant Steve Curran.

I think this might be a little better, although possibly behind the paywall.

The MW Wire article barely touches on his Pepperdine stint, his only other Division I gig, other than that his record was 14-35. Nothing about the abuse allegations he was facing when he left. Then at the end of the story, he writes that Walberg has "won at every head coaching gig he has been at," when he already mentioned the record at Pepperdine.

I get Lawson would have been a home run hire. But this feels like a pretty "meh" pick.

And again with the disclaimer that I may not know enough about the women's game.

Not sure this is gonna show up, it's a locked account, but either way, shit could be getting real interesting real soon.

Yup it didn't show up. It's Coaching Changes saying a source it trusts says Calipari to Arkansas is 90%. Here's the first rumor I saw of it on the Twitters...all caveats apply about nobody ever hearing of this guy with 500-something followers.
