Yeah, but they put it on ABC for the largest possible audience. Getting broadcast for the final is more meaningful for the women than prime time on cable would be. Lest we forget, the men were on cable just last night.

That was certainly true a generation ago. But NBC's Sunday Night Football has been the most watched program on all of TV for several years now.
The Super Bowl has been a Sunday night game for decades.
World Series hasn't had a day game since 1987.
NBA and NHL? Not sure, but I don't remember the last one of those played in the afternoon.
Aside from golf and tennis, I'm struggling to think of a big event on Sunday afternoons.

NFL games? Most Sunday baseball? Golf majors? I get that SNF is a thing, but playing this at 3 p.m. on a Sunday is not a slap in the face of women's basketball.

Agreed. It's not a slap in the face to the sport. There are certainly other big events on Sunday afternoons. I'm going to be curious to see the viewership.
Then we can wonder about broadcast v. cable and afternoon vs. night. (If Friday's LSU-Iowa game drew 14.2 million on ESPN, how many would have watched South Carolina-Iowa on Sunday night on ESPN? I can't hazard a guess.)

Sorry NASCAR fans, but I chuckled at this.

I'm no NASCAR fan, but Daytona is a big event whether we like it or not.

    So's Indy.

If the Indy 500 doesn't have a call in yet to Clark's people to ask her to wave the green flag, heads should roll.

Zach Edey and Caitlin Clark. The Indy 500 green flag match made in heaven.

I don't know if they will drop like a stone -- the recruiting class they have coming in is pretty good and they already have a pair of good commits in the 2025 class. I could see them getting to the sweet 16. But this was also a program that had only gotten to the Elite Eight four times before the past two seasons.

There are worse things in life than going back to being just a tournament team every year
