The last two years feel like Bird-Magic for the women's game. We had the UCLA/UConn equivalent eras already. I think women's hoops will be on a solid footing going forward.

And the level of interest these last couple of years will be paying dividends as all these young girls across the country were tuned in and now can see an achievable goal. I expect we will see a rise in the talent pool across the board for women's hoops, not just concetrated at the top like we've had the last 20 years or so.

Fran McCaffrey's kid will have something to say about that ...

I would like nothing better than for this season to be a watershed moment for women's basketball in the U.S. But let's not jump the gun. Caitlin Clarks don't show up every year, or every era. There is nothing to indicate that we'll be turning out Caitlin Clarks on a regular basis. And that was the difference this time around.

Clark drew more viewers to ESPN than anything, other than college football, in ESPN's 45 year history. It's okay if another Clark doesn't show up tomorrow.

Cameron Brink arguably was the second-best player in the nation. I wonder how many people who know about Clark have even heard of her.

That's what I'm sayin'. The world of women's basketball will not end if another Caitlin Clark doesn't show up tomorrow, but your TV ratings will indicate that she moved the needle big-time.

I guess we'll know next season. If Kim Mulkey grabs more headlines than any player, we're back to where we were.

I hated learning there's a whatever chance that could be her father-in-law.

I cared more about seeing Iowa-S.C. than I care to watch Edey make 12 of 22 free throws tonight.

But had it been N.C. State vs. UConn, I doubt I would have turned it on.

I want this to be a chain reaction type of dominoes falling where every single D-I school in the country gets a new coach.
