The irony of Drew saying Seth is too distracted by Cody-Roman-Rock, only to fall victim to his own distraction with Punk.

    Well, there's Cody's first challenger.

    She is utterly fantastic.

Storylines, stars and financial moves aside. I’d argue that she is a very underrated reason for the E’s success right now. The purpose of watching professional wrestling is to have fun. She is making the show fun.

Well, those who heard the Marietta Daily Journal shoutout last night -- Jon Alba came through huge for us, with some great pics from the Philly Inquirer.

When Julia Roberts (Smyrna native) won the Oscar for Erin Brockovich (before my time), I believe there was a little ad campaign that "the Marietta Daily Journal was on her doorstep before Oscar." Maybe I can get them to do the same thing with Cody and the world championship.

We did cover Cody and high school wrestling big when we still had a larger staff, and now four times as a pro -- when he first debuted in WWE and won the tag title with Bob Holly, after WWE when he was with ROH at Atlanta's Center Stage, and with AEW when he made his first Atlanta homecoming (the cage match vs. Wardlow) right before the pandemic.

Cobb County's Cody Rhodes Wins WWE Championship in WrestleMania Main Event (apologies for the paywall, for those who hit it)

So reflecting on last night, while it was cool to see Cena, I think it would've been cooler to have Sami come out to take down Solo considering his place in the Bloodline storyline and how he and Solo had a kind of bond during his time with the faction. It was a much deeper story than Cena-Solo. Would've liked to have seen Sami included somehow there.

As weird as it sounds to consider Undertaker as a "fall-back" option, I wonder if WWE was trying for Austin in that spot. Austin vs. Rock was such a integral rivalry, but I don't really remember as much Rock vs. Taker.

Meanwhile, someone posted the whole "Cody family photo" from last night. I spot Dustin, Ricky Starks, QT, Aaron Solow and the Hubers from AEW. Lying on the floor is Berkley Ottman, WWE's timekeeper, Cody's legit cousin and -- yes -- Son of Shockmaster.

Taker did have a history with Reigns, though — even if it was pre-Bloodline — whereas Austin didn't.

I checked Cagematch after reading that, and you're right. Rock and Undertaker somehow only had three PPV singles matches against each other, and eight televised singles matches. One of those was a championship match so I guess they had a feud or two along the way, but that does seem crazy low for two top stars.

This made me laugh. The "bored at work" tweet was what Drew sent during his match when he grabbed his wife's phone and started texting.

Would’ve loved to see Rock sell a stunner one more time.

All the flowers given to Samantha for her work this weekend, what about Cole? We've all talked about how much he's gotten ridiculously better without Vince in his ear. But how longer until he seemingly becomes the GOAT of WWE play-by-play (seemingly passing JR)? Or is he already there?

WWE is such a minor league that an AEW mid-carder won its biggest title.
